I guess it was a test to make sure they work well for the 9/11 memorial. This is also the first 9/11 since 2001 that the new WTC tower is fully constructed, as seen in this photo

N612UA was the second 767 to hit the World Trade Center on 9/11. Today news came out that part of its landing gear was found in-between two buildings near ground zero. May the victims rest in peace...

AMERICAWEST_757-200_N902AW_LAX_1104_JP_small.jpgOnly 3 years after 9/11, this beautiful America West 757 was flying around with this incredible color scheme highlighting major American landmarks from West to East including the World Trade Center (with the American flag, which was added after 9/11). And look at the billboard in L.A. on the left side of the photo- nothing to do with the airplane, yet so much to do with it. Powerful....

Unfortunately, this would be the last time I would ever see the twin towers from Newark airport (August 2001), as the next time I would see them was from JFK just a few days before the 9/11 tragedy....

I was in Manhattan (at the time I worked for an investment firm in Midtown) on 9/11 and my friends at the PA and JFK-ATC were working that day, a day we'll never, ever forget. May the victims rest in peace and may their families be well.

This is the gate in EWR which was used to board United flight 93 (757-200) which went down in Shanksville Pennsylvania. Note the flags are appropriately at half staff. God bless all the victims and familes of victims of 9/11
