If you know runway markings, take a look at where the 747 rotated on runway 4L. I usually don't post photos with clipped tails but this one is an exception (my lens at the time was not wide enough to accommodate the entire aircraft)

ATLASAIR_747-400F_N459MC_MIA_1012B_JP_small.jpgBecause this photo was taken at night (it looks the way it does because I adjusted the lighting on the computer) you can see the lights from not only the departing traffic (right side of pic above the 747), but also the previous traffic to that one, which departed from the same runway 9L (just to the right of the 747 tail)

ATA_757-200_EI-LTA_MUC_0306_JP_small.jpgLook at the tail, look at the weather. Oxymoron. This former ATA 757 is in Munich being prepped for its new life with VIM Russian Airlines. Of course I just happened to be in Munich during the biggest snow storm they've had in years! Timing is everything..

AMERICAN_767-200_N320AA_LAX_1111.jpgThis photo was not supposed to happen. I photographed it handheld (no tripod), while moving at 10PM, using 6400 ASA, which is really pushing the envelope of my 7D camera. I suppose it's worth sharing, even though the quality is not really up to par- or maybe it is, given the circumstances... -The yellow ribbon on the tail signifies the Thanks To The Troops message on this 767-200

ATI_VARIG_MEXICANA_ATLAS_MIA_1211_JP_small.jpgWhat a gorgeous selection of airplanes and color schemes. First we have an ATI DC8, followed by a Varig 767-200, a Mexicana 767-300 and finally with only the tail showing is an Atlas Air 747F

KOREAN-CARGO_747-400F_HL7602_FRA_0809B_JP.jpgAlmost a tail strike! Light load (heavy load would mean he would rotate way further down the runway) but fast climb rate on initial rotation nearly resulted in the tail striking the runway. Thankfully that did not happen!

AIRBUS_A380_F-WWJB_INTERIOR_JFK_0307O_JP.jpgHere is a view in the A380 that is fairly rare. Taken on board F-WWJB during its JFK stopover when it was touring major world airports, this photo depicts a couple of monitors which show cabin temperature controls, and the top monitor of course reflects the tail mounted camera, which is pretty neat when the airplane is taking off/landing for passengers to enjoy watching
You can see full information on any photo by clicking the " i " icon above the large photo

jfkiatTERMINAL4_JFK_0910.jpgJFK-IAT Terminal 4 features a very expansive and beautiful retail area. I actually watched this building being built about 13 years ago, it truly is an amazing place and is incredibly well run, hence its enormous success as not only an airport terminal but also a robust retail shopping experience

swissmd11HB-IWNzrh0802.jpgNote the Chinese letters on the tail. I forget if it's Taiwan or China that stipulates to foreign carriers that if they want to serve those nations, they must have atleast one airplane that reflect Asian emblems, such as KLM ASIA, SWISS ASIA... -I'm not fully up on all the facts but if you are please enlighten me in the comments section of this photo

unitedexpcrjN982SWlax1204.jpgAt first glance, the CRJ on the left looks like Independence Air, and it was, but at the time of this photo it was operating for United Express with that little fish toward the tail which I have never seen on an Independence Air a/c so wonder what that was about- anyone know?

aloha732MAR01n819alOGG.jpgThis Kodachrome slide was so difficult to scan because it's so contrasty, I just could not get the colors and light right so I decided that it's better to share as a black and white than not to share at all. I cannot describe the beauty that one sees on the Island of Maui, it's just incredible and I would say the most beautiful place I've been to on Earth. Every so often if you stare at the water a whale tail would come up for a second or so, just incredible..

varig777pp-vrflax1204.jpgThe 777 as been sold to Varig, hence the PP-VRF registration, no titles and half-blacked out United symbol on the tail. The 777 just landed on runway 25L and is slowly taxiing on the highspeed before stopping for departing United 747-400 on runway 25R

aerosur737c-fnax0903mia.jpgI know that many of you who visit this web site are interested in learning, as I am, about an airplane's future and past. If you google C-FNAX, you'll see that the airplane was previously with Canada3000 Airlines (they went belly up several years ago) and at the time this photo was taken, the 737 was being prepped for Aerosur Bolivia (hence the green tail)

airindiaexp738VT-AXDnov07bom.jpgAir India Express 737's are beautiful. Each 737 has a different tail design on both sides and unfortunately, at Mumbai they are not as active as other Indian airports so I only got a chance to photograph a couple of them taxiing by this spot
